By Car
- Directions from the North. Head south
on I75 to Gainesville and take the exit for Archer, SR24. Turn right onto SR24 and
head west. Cedar Key is 58 miles southwest of Gainesville, FL, at the end of
State Road 24. At the stop sign in Cedar Key, turn left onto 2nd Street. The Island Hotel
is three blocks down on the left.
- Directions from the North West. Head
east on I-10. Past Tallahassee take the exit for Monticello and SR19.
Turn
right on SR19 and head south to Capps where you turn left onto SR19/98 and continue south.
On the south side of Chiefland, turn right onto SR345. Follow 345 south to
the intersection with SR24. Turn right and follow to Cedar Key. At the stop
sign in Cedar Key, turn left onto 2nd Street. The Island Hotel will be found three blocks
down on the left.
- Directions from the South. Head north
on I-75 to exit 70, Ocala. At the bottom of the exit ramp turn left onto SR27.
Head north to Williston. Go straight through Williston, but the road becomes
the Alternate 27. Follow that north to Bronson. At the traffic lights in
Bronson turn left onto SR24. Follow SR24 all the way to Cedar Key, some 34 miles.
At the stop sign in Cedar Key, turn left onto 2nd Street. The Island Hotel will be
found three blocks down on the left.

By Boat - Boating weather

Boat Ramps - There are two boat ramps, one into the marina
and one out into the channel for larger boats. There is a charge for using both.
Parking - There are numbered parking bays for cars pulling
boat trailers. Charges are $5 per day. Just park the in one of the numbered bays and
deposit $5 in the corresponding box opposite the marina boat ramp. There is a
$25 fine for not doing so!
For Guests at the Island Hotel we have plenty of space
available for parking at the rear of the Hotel by prior arrangement.
Cedar Key Marina - There are a limited
number of shallow berths inside the marina on a floating pontoon and a few slightly deeper
berths on the north side wall. Reservations may be made through City Hall if prepaid,
otherwise they are on a first come first served basis. City Hall phone number is
352-543-5132. If you don't make reservations , unbooked berths can be paid for on a first
come first served basis. There is someone on duty at the inside boat ramp at
weekends. The same person will also take your $5 ramp fee at weekends, do display
the ticket or the police will charge you again if you have an empty boat
trailer.
Please watch where you are parking as some of the streets are for passenger
vehicles only
- the police will ticket trailers parked in such areas! There is limited headroom
under the fixed road bridge so approach with care. As there is a continuous problem with
silting in the marina depths are uncertain.
There are a number of deepwater berths on the County Pier
which is on the outside of the marina. Reservations can be made via the dockmaster Mr.
Lloyd Stevens prior to arrival on 352-543-5478.
By Private Plane - Cedar Key has its own
airport, The George T Lewis Airport, located about 1 mile from downtown Cedar Key.

Transport to and from the airport is provided by Checker
Taxis operated by Tony and Judy. They can be contacted by radio on 122.9 or by phone
on 352-543-5406, cell phone 1-352-490-1372, or pager 1-352-493-5943. There are no public
phones at the airport so bring a cellphone! If you get stuck try calling
Stanley or Andy Bair at the hotel.
By Commercial Airline - The nearest
commercial airport to Cedar Key is Gainesville, which is about 1 hour and 15
minutes drive away.
Larger airports are Tampa, Orlando, Tallahassee and Jacksonville, all of which are
about a 3-hour drive away from Cedar Key. All airports have car rental facilities
available.
